Holland Day

Saturday was Whangarei's third annual Holland Day and we joined in the celebrations.

                                                There was Indonesian Dancing

and a show by artists of Dutch descent

These two girls made out of copper would have been a couple of feet or more high.

    1. I said to Mum quilts but suppose wall hangings is correct - they were quilted but only wall hanging size. Still nice weather.

  3. What fun, Susan. I'm fascinated to think that there are enough people of Dutch descent in your area to have a whole day of celebration every year. Somehow we take it for granted that New Zealand was settled by British settlers. My ignorance.....

    1. It was great - I met up with people I knew in Kaitaia that I didn't know were going to be there (as well as locals I know).
