KERIKERI

A couple of weeks ago we had a drive over to Kerikeri mainly to see New Zealand's oldest building.  This was built in the early 1800's - not at all old by English standards.  Anyway, it was another beautiful day and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Stone Store built in the 1830's
The Mission Station - New Zealand's oldest building
                                                               Inside the Mission Station

View from Mission Station to the Kerikeri Basin

    1. Yes, it has recently been brought back to original state i.e. upgradings over the years removed. Quite tough conditions for the original settlers

    1. Yes, and I gather they had trouble growing crops and relied on ships from Sydney.

  3. Oh Sue, I would have loved to been with you on this trip. I love historic buildings. My imagination runs away with me when in them. xx
