Sunshine!!!!!!

After four days of rain we finally have some sunshine and decided to do the walk from A.H. Reed park to the Whangarei Falls.  The river has gone down a lot but is still high

I took a photo of this stream meeting the main one last time we did this walk and the water was barely running.

One side of the path is running with water.

I didn't go any closer than this as the wind generated by the rush of water was so strong.

and this is the waterfall in December.

The path was running with water.

  1. I have been hoping all was safe with you, too much rain and water everywhere. Keep warm and dry. hugs, Jean

    1. It was not nearly as bad here in Whangarei as it was further north even though I think there would have been about 200ml of rain over the four days as well as strong winds.

  2. I've been wondering how you were getting on with all that rain. Thank goodness for a little respite!

    1. It was wonderful to see the sun. We wouldn't have been able to walk down the path even yesterday.

  3. Yes, there's a LOT of water going down those falls, Susan. The power of nature is sobering.

    1. I gather we had nearer to 400 mls of rain in the four days. One drowning further north and still lots of flooded houses. I got off lightly.

    1. I am lucky here. A lot of people still have no power and surrounded by floodwater.

  5. The force of that water looks quite scary. What a difference 4 days of non-stop rain has made. Glad the sun's come out again at last.

    1. Doug walked down by the waterfall but came straight back as the force of water created a strong wind down there. I really appreciate the sun and thank goodness the forecast has some sun till
      Friday,.

  6. It's nice to live by running water, but only when it's under control. Our summer has returned today, but for how long I wonder!
