Parkinson Walk - A.H. Reed Park to the Whangarei Falls.

Last Monday we had torrential rain for our Parkinson's Walk but today the sun shone and the temperature was pleasant.

Some of the group who decided not to do the extra walk up the hill and over the falls.

A fascinating toadstool growing out of a ponga.

and taken from the other side it looks more like a lightbulb

  1. The Fly Agaric obviously wasn't 'growing' there as you see its root. Some joker has stuck it there!

  2. Susan, with very great respect it is not clear to me what this Parkinson walk was / is. Was it a walk for sufferers of Parkinsons disease? a sponsored walk to raise funds.
I have a special interest in Parkinsons disease as my old dad had this disease for over 12 years. Its final stages were pretty debilitating for him and heart rending for our mum and us his children.

  3. Sue the scenery around that walk looks so beautiful. The water fall is stunning. What a lovely place to have a picnic. Glad you managed to walk the extra bit to the top. Well worth it.

    1. It really is a wonderful walk. Took longer than usual yesterday but it was by far the longest walk the gentleman Doug is helping in the last photo has managed so far. A great achievement. Hope all is well with you.
