The Jacarandas are in flower here at present and make a wonderful show all over the city.  Not the best photos as they were just taken by holding my camera out of the car window as we were driving near Doug's house.

Storms forecast for the start of the new year.  We need the rain but not the storms.

one more photo after all the rain.  This tree is opposite Doug's house and shows the petals on the ground after the rain.

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2016.

  1. A Happy New Year to you too, and enjoy the beautiful Jacarandas whilst they are in flower with you. They must be a wonderful sight to see.

  2. Happy New Year Sue to you and yours xx

  3. Cor! I'd love one of those here. Best wishes, Cro x

  4. Oh golly these are heart-stoppingly lovely I think. They don't grow at all in Canterbury as far as I know.
Good photos for moving car shots! Happy New Year x

  5. They are so beautiful at this time of year.

The drought ended and we have had rain now for about 48 hours (may be more as I can't quite remember when it started)

We have been lucky so far as we have just had steady rain and not much wind whereas both north and south of us have had severe gales.

If I get a chance I will try to get some more photos of the jacaranda. I noticed today that they ae losing their flowers but the ground is just covered in petals.

  6. Aren't they just stunning!? I love them against to pohutukawas, love the two colours together. Happy New Year to you too xo

  7. Gosh, they are beautiful! Happy New Year, Sue.
