MERRY CHRISTMAS

A couple of weeks ago we went down to the Town Basin to a concert put on by the Basin City Band and on the way saw this pohutakawa (also known as the New Zealand Christmas Tree).

A bit further on was this Christmas Tree alongside the Marina

I took these close-ups of pohutakawa flowers on our recent visit to Limestone Island.  If you enlarge these photos you can see the detail.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2016.

  1. Hi Susan. season's best wishes to you for happiness and peace in 2016. Love that tree, a real NZ symbol for Christmas. Very quiet here, family arrive Boxing Day, but Santa will be coming for the three felines!!!

  2. I thought that little tree at the Town Basin was lovely. I was also pleased with my close up shots of the flowers.

Quietish here I think, going down to One Tree Point to Doug's son-in-law's with his daughter and grandchildren and taking a lady who would be on her own and has had the past two Christmases at Doug's.

I am sure there will be an over abundance of food as I gather there will be roast lamb, roast pork, ham and a beef & beer casserole all for nine people!!! Still there will be lots of left-overs.

Wishing you a happy, peaceful and healthy time.

    1. and Happy Christmas to you and yours as well Molly. Have a great one. It is nearly 9 a.m. here and I have just come in from the garden - went out at 6 a.m. and ended up pottering in the garden, weeding, and tidying.

Better get myself some breakfast and get the day started.

  4. Happy Christmas Susan and what lovely Christmas tree and flower photos. The pohutukawa is really more of a North Island Christmas tree, though we can see them flowering by the coast but not much below Banks Peninsula. Rata is our equivalent in the South Island. Hope you had a great day yesterday with all that food! We had a festive brunch out in the garden. All the best, Jeneane x
