CAT RUN

Unfortunately, my cat Kim is scared of dogs (and people) and Doug's labrador, Sophie barks at cats and, if they run, chases them.  To keep Kim safe Doug has just built a cat run onto the side of his house.  Kim will be confined to one end of the house and Sophie the other and Kim will be able to get into the run through the Master Bedroom window.

Yesterday I took some house plants around to Doug's and they are now sitting happily on a table in the cat run/shadehouse.  I do hope Kim likes her new home and appreciates all the hard work that went into building the run.

  4. Freddie has plenty of trees in the garden that he can run-up in case of trouble. He and Bok get on quite well, but if he finds Freddie away from the house, he'll always chase him; just for fun. They have an understanding.

    1. It will also keep her away from cat fights at night as there are lots of other cats in the neighbourhood.

  6. Cats and Dogs - while some get on, others never do! We have a mixed bag in our household! Good luck with all your moving plans :-)

    1. Thank you - I just want to keep her safe - she is so timid that if she runs away she would never be found.

  7. I do hope that they will eventually get on well together. I'm sure Kim will enjoy exploring her new home - how kind of Doug to build a run specially for her.
For once, we have a Labrador who doesn't show the slightest interest in cats - one previous one actually tried to follow them up trees !

    1. For some time now Doug has brought Sophie to my place every evening when he comes for his evening meal. Sophie stays in the porch but Kim knows she is there. We did try bringing Sophie inside but if she sees Kim she barks and Kim takes off. I am sure they will work it out eventually but, at least, Kim will be safe and secure to start with.

  8. What a good fellow your Doug is - making a safe haven for Kim.
It looks like the perfect answer to the dog/cat issue!
Isn't this Kate summer weather beautiful! I hope Waitangi weekend is good too as we've been invited away on our niece's boat!

  9. Shane, Blogger won't let me do a "reply" so will do as a "comment" Yes, Doug is great. The summer is wonderful but is not late here. We missed all the earlier rain that Auckland had. It has been hot dry for a long time.
