CREPE MYRTLE, TOMATOES AND AN ABUTILON

We have two Crepe Myrtle plants and the first of them is in flower at the moment.

The tomatoes have also started to ripen.  We have several varieties in different beds.  These are the first ones

At the recent Garden trail we went on we purchased several plants.  The last one to be planted is the Abutilon which has only just come into flower.  The lady we bought it from couldn't tell us the colour but we are very pleased with the colour we have got.  The little plant is only about 8 inches high.

The forecast is only 24 degres which is much more pleasant.

  1. When it comes to Crepe Myrtle, that pink is my favorite color. I am thinking of adding a purple one this year.

Your tomatoes look perfect and it looks like you have a very good crop this year.

    1. The tomatoes are doing well so far although since I posted the winds have got up and they are getting battered. Fingers crossed for a good crop. I can't remember exactly the colour of our other crepe myrtle although it has a darker leaf.

  2. Gosh, those Toms are looking good. It'll be 5 months before I plant mine. I have an Abutilon, but it has very small red flowers that look like Strawberries. Hence its name 'Strawberry Vine'.

    1. I hadn't heard of the strawberry vine abutilon and couldn't find it when I googled. I hope the tomatoes keep doing well. Have just seen the heatwave in south Australia with temperatures in the 40's which could affect us.

    1. Hadn't heard of a ftoo ftoo ftoo but if it helps keep the fruit safe from all that the elements can throw at it that is good.

    1. I hope the abutilon does well in your garden. I had several different colours when we were up north. Yes, the tomatoes are doing well but as you would know they can get problems very quickly

  5. Your Crepe Myrtle is a mass of lovely pink flower, and I love picking my own tomatoes from the garden, but a long while to go before I can.

    1. Yes, it has done very well. I gave it to Doug for his birthday one year before we got married and I moved here. I suppose it is three years old.

  6. Is the Crepe Myrtle as tall as it looks? What a gorgeous thing to have in the garden. Your temps seem fairly manageable at the moment. May it not become too much warmer for you!

    1. The crepe myrtle is about the same height as me 5' 6" in old measurements. Forecast is for 28 degrees at the weekend but at least it is nowhere near as hot as Australia at the moment.

  7. Your tomatoes are way ahead of ours - must be the great Northland climate!
We’ve only picked a handful so far!
