As we were missing out on various items if we got to the market at 7.30 we have been making an extra effort to get there earlier.
On Saturday, although I had my alarm set for 6 a.m., I actually woke just before 5.30 and decided to get up then so that I could have some warming porridge before Doug picked me up. I phoned him just before 6 a.m. and he collected me at about 6.30. We would have got to the market at about 6.45.
Apart from fruit and vegies I have been buying very nice Angus beef from a couple who drive down from Kaitaia (they have to get up at 3a.m.). I also like the gluten free bread I buy at the market.
After we have bought all on my list plus a few other items we went down to the Town Basin to walk Sophie and then on to New World Supermarket.
The full moon as we left my place.
and when we were at the market - I was on "infinity" hence the blur.
It is starting to get light at the market. The stallholders have various types of lighting for their stalls.
Early morning down at the Town Basin.
Unusual grey fungi.
This is what New World Supermarket carpark is like if one shops before 8 a.m.
and the sun just rising as we loaded the car with our groceries.

RAIN
After a wonderful Indian Summer it has finally rained - almost continuous for the past couple of days with strong winds as well.
Today was fine again and we went to Tikipunga Park where the river was high (although it was a lot higher yesterday judging by the grass etc. caught in branches).

Usually the river is quite low with just a small amount of water over the rocks
My rain gauge overflowed at 180 mm.
