On Wednesday we set off for Kerikeri to see Rolands Bluebell Wood. On the way there we passed the area of a major slip that closed State Highway 1 for a week in July.
In Kerikeri we saw Chris Booth's sculpture
the seagulls were enjoying the moat like pond at its base.
Then on to Roland's Wood where we had a picnic after a walk around the wood.
It will be interesting to go back at different times of the year to see the woodland in its different stages.
The bluebells look a lovely sight.
ReplyDeleteA lovely reminder of "home". Bluebells are not often seen in the north.
ReplyDeleteI saw a timelapse of Bluebells from coming up out of the ground to blossoming, the most amazing series. I have a few here, so delicate. That park looks like a place to visit often, I wonder if they have plantings planned for all year round with other bulbs and flowers. Cheers,Jean.
ReplyDeleteIt will be so interesting to visit as often as possible. The leaves should be out shortly and, as you say, presumably other bulbs and flowers. It should also be wonderful in autumn. Hope things are going better for you and Hugh.
DeleteThe bluebells and all your photos of Roland's Wood are lovely.
ReplyDeleteNot quite as plentiful as in English bluebell woods but wonderful.
DeleteYes, I think they look a little 'planned'. The natural bluebell woods of England are fantastic. Did you have the chicken-n-chips?
DeleteNo chicken -n-chips - picnic at the bluebell woods - much better!!
