With Christmas being in the summer we don't have holly with it's red berries but I think these alstroemerias, especially the small old fashioned one are a great alternative.
They are one of my favorite flowers. They come in so many colors and can last a full two weeks in a vase of water. Your's look especially lovely and perfect for the holidays.
They are one of my favourites too. Always look good, whether in the ground or in a vase. and easy to grow (an important point for a lazy gardener like me.)
It's been a bit of a crazy week in our house SH, so this morning, Christmas Eve, is the first time I've been able to catch up with your posts! Looks like you have done a bang-up job prepping the house for Christmas...those plants are gorgeous. We spent a few years celebrating the holidays in south-east asia, so I understand Christmas in hot temperatures. We would crank up the air-conditioning just to be able to wear sweaters inside the house! I hope the spirit of Christmas shines down on you and yours this beautiful season. Happy Christmas!

ReplyDeleteSOACM - yes, they always look good and,as you say, last a decent time.
ReplyDeleteThe colour is gorgeous. Sue, just heard on the news of the earth tremors again in Christchurch - how awful for them. My thoughts are with them.

Happy Christmas Susan. Clear and sunny here in Central Hawkes Bay but quite breezy and not exactly warm - but not cold enough for a fire!
