Parkinson Walk - Monday 22nd October.
It is some time since I have been on one of the Parkinson Walks - I just haven't had the energy. I decided I must attempt this one. It started, and finished, in the Quarry Arts Centre and there were plenty of seats along the way so I managed the whole walk.
Like several of the other walks we have done it is right on the edge of town - I am most impresses with the maintenance of the paths in these walks.
Following the walk we had a look around the Arts Centre.
The wavy roof is hessian with cement =- some of the buildings are reaching their "use by date" but it is a fascinating area and they have some good exhibitions on.

It all looks very lush and exotic.
ReplyDeleteIt is and just a 7 minute drive from our house and 10 minute walk to the Town Centre.
DeleteIt is lovely ...what a nice place to walk and visit. I agree with Cro as well. Hoping you were happy you went after all, feeling better with going.
ReplyDeleteA shame it isn't used more - the other walks we have done are more popular.
DeleteI so need to do this walk Susan!
ReplyDeleteJulia it seems to be an under-utilised path whereas there are lots of people on the Mair Park walks. We only went to the Pa site (which is overgrown) whereas one can, of course, walk through to the Quarry Gardens.
DeleteI'm glad you made the walk Sue. The dappled sunshine on the woodland path and the fresh air and the beautiful scenery is just lovely.
ReplyDeleteDo all of the people on the walk have some association with Parkinsons i.e may have it themselves or have a partner or colleague with it? It looks a nice gently walk and not too many steep climbs to negotiate.
ReplyDeleteYes, Rosemary, most have Parkinsons - the rest are the partners of people with Parkinsons (although other people are welcome). The steep parts had steps which made it easier.
DeleteThe group was started both for exercise and companionship. We have coffee at a nearby cafe afterwards.
