I visited the Rest Home today and took a photo of M's fiddle rug which was given to him by the family of another resident. I also took him the centipede and he did seem to like that.
The main thing he seems to prefer on the fiddle rug is the wool pom-pom which I have already replaced. I attached the rubber ring hand exerciser while I was making the new pom-pom.
My first two roses. The Burgundy Iceberg is in bud.
The Australian Frangipane is covered in flowers again this year.
These pinks are from a small cutting I bought at a church fair.
The Statice was in the reduced bin at the garden centre - I doubt if I would have bought it otherwise but it has done really well
I took this photo of the sage flowers before cutting them back.
The Snowball tree is doing well and in the background the plum tree is covered in fruit of various sizes. The Banksia rose is something I always wanted and never got around to buying. When we arrived it completely covered what we call the rose hut. It took a lot of work cutting it back and now I am keeping it as a standard. The trunk shows how old it must be.

Lovely flowers! You are a talented gardener. That pinky-purple rose at the top is gorgeous, I bet it has an amazing scent.
ReplyDeleteThe scent isn't as strong as I would have expected - could be my hayfever!!!
DeleteAs we sink into autumn it is a delight to see your Spring photographs and beautiful photographs. That fiddle rug is such a great idea, thank goodness pom poms are easy to make and replace!
ReplyDeleteYes, I always enjoy looking at the spring/summer gardens in the northern hemisphere while we are in Autumn/winter. Yes, the fiddle rug is great - I must look for some more wool to make some pom-poms - I hadn't made one for about 60 years but was surprised at how easy it was.
DeleteSusan everything looks lovely. I will have to ask my cousin about those centipedes as they seem to be a great idea. She is a Nurse here at our local Nursing homes. It is raining steady here on the Bruce Peninsula. I as thinking when I had our Aussies out for their morning romp that rain is not bad, it will be worse when the snow arrives. My Monk's Head didn't seem to do so well this Fall. Kindest regards, "Just Me"
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flowers, Susan. I hope your weather settles down to steady spring sunshine soon. Here the rambler rose across the yard has a few last blooms and the leaves are starting to fall quite heavily.
ReplyDeleteYes, I hope it settles - it is raining at present. We didn't really get a summer last year.
DeleteI love spring, I love your spring flowers. I think pinks are my favorites, until the next thing blooms. I started a small slip last year I bought at a community fund raiser and it grew so much over the summer. I remember pinks on my way home from elementary school, planted in a rock garden that was shoulder high from the side walk. I would stop and smell them and smell them and smell them!
ReplyDeleteYes, pinks are lovely and the smell is divine. This was just a small slip and I now have several clumps of it.
DeleteThat was so kind of that family to give M the rug. It's lovely with a touchy-feely thing about it and the colours are so bright. So glad he likes it and the toy you brought him too. Sue, your flowers are beautiful. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteYes, M does seem to like the rug and the new centipede. Have a good weekend as well. It is a long weekend here.
DeleteIn dd's little job she helps dementia staff buy items for residents - I just showed her your blog. She said big wooden puzzles (without the pegs as these can be pulled off) are also helpful and enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteI've only had one rose out so far - me thinks they need feeding!
Your walks look very peaceful, enjoyed catching up!
Raining down here today.
Love Leanne
