On Monday for our Parkinsons' walk we walked over the Te Matau a Pohe Bridge and then alongside the dog park before returning over the bridge again - it was a pleasant walk. The bridge opened just before we started our walk and then again while we were going over it. It is interesting to see how much higher it would have to be if it didn't have the bascule. It was a busy time as it opened yet again while we were by the dog park.
Although we had rain/showers forecast for the long weekend (Anzac Weekend) it kept fine in spite of the clouds.
If you enlarge the photos and click on them quickly you get a good view of the bridge opening.
That looks like a long bridge and a long walk. It is a beauty though.
ReplyDeleteIt was a very pleasant walk and just the right length for the people involved.
DeleteLooks like another pleasant walk, beautiful bridge
ReplyDeleteYes, it is a wonderful bridge as is the pdestrian one a bit further down the river.
DeleteI'm surprised that the yacht didn't have a fold-down mast. Do they have to pay to have it opened?
ReplyDeleteNo charge. It is supposed to be operated automatically later but is still done manually.
DeleteThere is a waterway bridge near where I live in the US. It seems so high when it is closed and then a boat will need to pass through and they open it and it is amazing to see that it truly is not high enough!
ReplyDeleteYes, I was quite surprised at just how much of the mast there was above the road level.
