We had to take the car in for its annual Warrant of Fitness today and decided to walk the long way back.
We left the Mechanics and walked along the road
past a Retirement Village
to the playing fields that are bordered by the river. The Retirement Village runs alongside.
The river is behind the trees in the background.
Looking back towards the Retirement Village.
The River
From the road bridge looking towards the top of the Whangarei Falls
from the road bridge looking back towards the playing fields
The 51 trees planted for the Christchurch massacre victims
Looking down at the falls
and to the bottom of the Falls
Not sure what this shrub is that was alongside the pavement but it was covered in flowers and bees.
Samsung Health told me we had walked just over 4 kms and when we went to pick the car up later in the day it was 1.2 kms going straight to the Mechanics.
A very pleasant walk....and the car passed with flying colours.
WOF, I had thought it might be the annual check up with your doctor. Lovely views from a long walk.
ReplyDeleteNo, just the car wof and a nice walk.
DeleteWarrant of Fitness? Who dreams up these terms? Sounds like something you would receive after running a marathon.
ReplyDeleteYes, I don't know how long ago that term was conjured up.
DeleteLovely scenery on your walk home. Those who live in the Retirement Village must be very happy with the view as well.
ReplyDeleteYes, although I think the houses look into the village rather than out to the park.
DeleteYou got some good photos, good to get out in the fresh air for a walk, I'm assuming your car passed?
ReplyDeleteYes, the car passed and the walk was great.
DeleteYour last sentence is the best one. What a relief it is when they pronounce the car OK for another year (or two in our case).
ReplyDeleteYes, we knew it needed a new bulb on one of the reversing lights and that was all, thank goodness.
DeleteWith all that walking you must be every bit as fit as the car!
ReplyDeleteThat is the aim. Neither of us can believe how old we have suddenly become and hope to keep on keeping fit. Also, walking is what I have always enjoyed. It is what comes naturally and I would hate not to be able to do it.
DeleteWhat a terrific idea of planting trees for those victims. The tree will always be a living reminder
