Yesterday we had a lovely walk along the Waimahanga Track. The weather was fine but chilly (not as cold as at the weekend). It was my first walk for three weeks as I have had a cough/cold that kept lingering so it was lovely to get out. Walk was a bit shorter than usual as the leaders decided that the bridge we usually walk to had been moved and they had walked far enough (half an hour each way) and the cafe was calling.
There is a large Puriri tree with little fairy houses.
Your Cauli looks wonderful, they're one of my favourites; especially in winter. There's always one in the house, usually the ordinary ones.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried cauliflower mash. I was a bit skeptical but we both liked it (made with the white ones). This one is also referred to as Romanesco brocolli.
DeleteRoasted florets, yummy, I put half a cauli,( out of our garden) into a huge soup mix, whizzed the lot, added bacon bone meat, and 2 packets of oxtail soup mix to each huge pot, actually I call the largest one " The Cauldron". That walk looks so inviting, a little warmer here today after Saturday's freeze.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a huge amount of yummy soup. I must try roasted cauliflower. Often see it mentioned. Haven't had oxtail for years, must keep an eye out for it.
DeleteColds can hang around in the winter. Glad to hear that you are getting out again.
ReplyDeleteI love any Cauliflower but Romanescu is a favourite...nutty and crunchy and colourful in a salad
Must try it in a salad.
