When is it going to rain????
The above photos are of the lower part of my lawn. Just heard that no rain is likely for at least another fortnight.
I have been watering every day to keep the flower and vegie beds alive but the lawn has been left to fend for itself.

Apples
When we moved here there were just four fruit trees on the property - the obligatory grapefruit and lemon as well as a most delicious plum and an apple which I think is a Royal Gala.
I have been fighting codlin moth and possums and finally picked the last of the apples a couple of days ago. They are delicious and I didn't want to let the possums have any more of them.
I have not planted any more fruit trees.
It has been a busy weekend with a family wedding and visitors from various parts of New Zealand as well as Perth. The wedding was lovely - the marriage itself took place on a beach similar to ones I have pictured recently and the reception was in a marquee on a lawn with a delightful stream running around it. As it got dark night lights were lit in the trees.
I am now exhausted.

TAHEKE FALLS
A fortnight ago Doug and I went for a walk in the bush at Taheke Falls. The Falls are the highest in Northland although only part of them are visible from the top in the second photo. The top photo is looking down the valley. There was a 2 hour walk through lovely bush there.
I have just been down in Auckland for four days staying with friends and visiting my brother in law and a friend in different rest homes and catching up with various family members. I also went to the World of Wearable Arts show at the Auckland Museum - well worth the trip down.
Below are photos of a couple of the costumes.
We have had some light showers but the drought is still very much in evidence.

Parkinson Walk 4th March continuation Reotahi Walkway
On Monday we met at the same car park and walked along the coast in the other direction.
There were some lovely little bays. You look across the harbour to the Oil Refinery.
A drought has been declared and the temperatures are hot for us - 29 degrees C. forecast today with 30 tomorrow.
Apparently there is no sign of real rain for the rest of the month. We had a lovely shower yesterday afternoon of 3mm which is the most we have had since the new year.
