TAHEKE FALLS

A fortnight ago Doug and I went for a walk in the bush at Taheke Falls.  The Falls are the highest in Northland although only part of them are visible from the top in the second photo.  The top photo is looking down the valley.  There was a 2 hour walk through lovely bush there.




























I have just been down in Auckland for four days staying with friends and visiting my brother in law and a friend in different rest homes and catching up with various family members.  I also went to the World of Wearable Arts show at the Auckland Museum - well worth the trip down.

We have had some light showers but the drought is still very much in evidence.

    The vegetation is so dense; your pictures make it seem tropical. I can see though the river probably should be covering the mud flats.

    Lovely photos Susan, nice how the bush is still green even in these conditions! And the bush would have been nice and cool. The visit to WOW in Auckland must have been interesting.

    The views are fabulous - all those different species of ferns. The 'Wearable Art' exhibition is stunning. Love the way they've put the different colours and materials together.

    What a beautiful place to visit...I just LOVE Northland bush/forests. Wow..and those dresses are AMAZING too!

    The smell of the bush is beautiful. We've just been up to the 4 day Tour of the Northland, unfortunately we weren't needed as a service vehicle, but had to drive ahead of the race each day. We had the windows open as much as we could!! The last day, Russell to Whangarei was wet (like last year) and we thought the Drought had broken....no such luck. Back to a dry Whanganui
