Whangarei Heads Easter Arts Trail

On Saturday we went on the Arts Trail - a first for both of us.  It was most enjoyable.  I didn't take any photos of the art on offer which was varied from glass blowing to jewellery to wood turning, painting and furniture.

At the Taurikura Hall we were most impressed with the gluten free jaffa cake - an almond and orange cake with chocolate ganache.  delicious.

The views from the houses and galleries were amazing and varied even with properties that were next to each other

We started with a slight (unintentional) detour to Pataua South and watched the children jumping off the bridge

The sculpture above moved with the wind.

  1. Can someone tell me whether it is something I have done or blogger - When I clicked on a photo previously I could view all my photos but now have to keep going back to the blog. Any help gratefully received.

  2. Must be blogger reverting to its previous way of doing things.

Lucky you doing the Arts Trail there.
We didn't have time when we were there for the 4 day Tour of the Northland. We did have coffee in the marvellous Helena Bay Gallery. Well worth it for both coffee and art!!

  4. Blogger's 'improvements' aren't always improvements. I find it annoying too. As usual; wonderful quiet beaches!

  5. Lots of good photos Susan - looks like you enjoyed the outing. My photos have been doing that too - I thought maybe I had fiddled with something - obviously not - I don't like it like this either!

  7. It is worth the effort of enlarging your photographs. Certainly cheered up a dull morning here. I love that little cluster of characters around the flag pole - and the sea, beaches and islands are simply spectacular.

    1. This was at a delightful cottage with riparian rights to a small secluded beach. The cottage was built by (I think) Newfoundlanders who settled in the area originally and the little characters are the said settlers.

  8. Sounds such a lovely day out.Love all your photos. It's been the coldest Easter here for decades so we've just kept inside by the fire.

    1. I do hope you get some proper spring weather soon. We have had the most idyllic summer ever. Lately there have been a few very welcome showers but no proper rain as yet.
