I see the above is looking slightly better although most days are forecast to have some rain. Our walking group has been going over ten years now and in the early years we rarely had to cancel a walk but at the moment we seem more likely to cancel than actually walk.
I know it is winter and should mean the dams are full for summer but some more sunny days would be appreciated. That said, we have been enjoying our time indoors cosy and snug with the fire going and are thankful to be retired.
In the South Island the weather has been more severe with bridges washed away and houses flooded.
As much as we need rain, heavy, continuous rain is hardly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteWe already know by now that climate is not promising us anything good for the future, especially not to those living on islands, surrounded by the seas. May God protect us all!
Yes, we have made a mess of Mother Earth.
DeleteWet here too, not torrential yet but quite cold. Loved the card, I have always so enjoyed Monet and his water lilies, I exercised great will power and saved it until this morning.Keep warm and dry.XX
ReplyDeleteGreat to talk. Just did NYT Wordle!
DeleteAs usual I got up at 5 am, went outside, and could smell smoke. I hope the fires aren't approaching. Nothing but heat promised for the next week or so.
ReplyDeleteHope the fires aren't too close. Rain and wind getting stronger here
DeleteHopefully only showers tomorrow fingers crossed.
We are back to having the same weather as you!
ReplyDeleteI must give a shout to Southerly friends to see if they are ok.
Yes, it moved south. Sorry you are having the same weather.
DeleteWe are still having a few nice days... but England is still hot and dry, with hosepipe bans in Hampshire and Sussex
DeleteGosh, I don't remember hosepipe bans as I was growing up.
DeleteWe haven't really had that much bad weather at all on the west coast, it's been Canterbury that's been hit hard. Boggles my mind that Northland has had flooding issues when we are meant to have that.
ReplyDeleteI have never known it to rain so much. At least it is fine today. I see Kaeo was down to just one lane after all the work that was done to stop the flooding.
ReplyDeleteWow. I imagine that the dams are near bursting. Your image of the lawn feeling/looking like a soggy sponge was ace. I could really visualize it (and sympathize with you).
ReplyDeleteStay dry!

Thank goodness it has turned fine today and the forecast is looking better with just a couple of wet days ahead. The lawn dries out quickly.
