We have just noticed a new flower on the banana. That makes it four bunches ripening very slowly plus this new flower on the clump of plants at the moment.
We have also just noticed the first waterlily flower in our pond. It doesn't take much to make me happy.
How wonderful to have your own Bananas. We did have a plant in France (which got frosted) but it would never have had actual edible Bananas.
ReplyDeleteThe Abyssian banana is more ornamental. After all the wind we have had ours are looking a bit tatty.
DeleteI've only picked bananas from the plant whilst on holiday, enjoy yours once they ripen.
ReplyDeleteWe have really enjoyed the ones we have picked so far. Far tastier than supermarket ones.
DeleteHome grown of any variety is the best.
ReplyDeleteYes, agree home grown always best.
DeleteThe banana tree should do quite well, one of my cormer clients in Kerikeri use to grow them, they were quite prolific there.
ReplyDeleteWe have had one delicious bunch this year with 4 more on the plants plus this new flower. Well worth it.
DeleteMy late husband and I grew them when we were in the
DeleteFar North (north of Awanui).
