TODAY'S WALK

Today we decided to do a slightly longer walk.  We started the same way going to the main road, down the hill and along Paranui Valley Road to A.H. Reid Park.  Then, instead of walking along the river to the Whangarei Falls we went through the Park, along the boardwalk to the Paranui Falls  at the other side of the Park.

By coincidence we arrived at the Park at the same time as Doug's daughter and great-granddaughter so they joined us for the boardwalk before returning to their car while we continued on.

One of the stairs we went up

to get to the Paranui Falls

We then headed up Clapham Road

and then a rough track until we met up with Sands Road, someone had painted these birds on their fence.  A pukeko, a tui and a kingfisher.

Looking back toward Clapham Road

This brought us to the Glenbervie Road and it was a short walk back to the Whangarei Falls and home.  According to Samsung Health we walked just over 7.5 kms in about two hours.  A very pleasant stroll.

Parkinson Walk - Monday 24th - A.H. Reed Park to Whangarei Falls

Another fine morning for our walk which culminated as usual with coffee and a chat.  More water over the falls now that the rains have started.

If you magnify the following photo and look carefully there is a man in red at the bottom left of the waterfall.

Monday walk - 18th June

The forecast, once again for a Monday, was for rain and storms, however, we were lucky as the rain held off until after our walk.

Today's walk was at A.H. Reed Park.  I had done part of it before but not all.  Only seven of us today but it was most enjoyable.

The photo above is looking up at a Kauri on the kauri boardwalk and the photo below is its trunk.  It was massive

The white on the above photo is a waterfall.  It was a bit of a goat track at this point and this was the best photo I could get safely.
Afterwards we went to Cafe Narnia for coffee and a chat.  Just as we were leaving the rain started and when I got home it came on quite heavily.  Temperature then dropped and when I checked this afternoon it was 10 degrees C.
