RAIN

It has been quite dry and we have been watering both the vegetable and flower gardens.  Today it is raining.  Great - no need to water.  There has been thunder rumbling through all afternoon and more is forecast overnight and into tomorrow.

I just poked my head (and camera) outside and took this photo through the gloom.

I think we have all the provisions we need for Christmas Day.  Tomorrow we will start the preparations.  Still picking beans although I think we have enough.  Will make the trifle, sort out the vegetables we need.  Make the marinade for the lamb and leave it overnight ready to go in the oven early on Christmas morning.

The rain is forecast for tomorrow and Christmas Day but, luckily we don't need to go anywhere.  Everyone is coming to us.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE.

  2. Yes we've had rain here the last couple of days, I've cleared out the old bits and pieces from my vege garden and thinking about what to plant next.

  3. The garden looks sweet...and if you don't keep picking the beans you won't have any more!

    1. Yes, I seem to have spent a lot of my childhood picking Scarlet Runners. If friends were away I picked theirs so that they didn't stop "fruiting". So far I am only picking the dwarf yellow beans but the others aren't far away. We have six varieties this year.

  5. That looks like a wonderfully productive vegetable garden; it all looks so beautifully organised - as with your 'Jobs to Do' list! I must go and find my notebook and pencil, set to work on my lists.

  6. Where I live 'rain' is quite a magic word. Rain visits us almost only in winter , and sometimes even then not enough. We're used to water gardens, and do a lot of sea water dessalinization. Our irrigation system is also one of the most sofisticated , and that helps.
