THE TOWN BASIN

Another lovely autumn day and we had to go into town so went on down to the Town Basin to purchase a map for the upcoming Art Trail.  While we were there we had a couple of ice creams and sat and people and cloud watched.  It is School Holidays and, although it doesn't show in the photos, it was actually very busy.




We had a short stroll to buy a couple of items and passed one of the many murals around the town.




then back to the car next to the playground.

    its a lovely area with so much to see...and a three hour limit on parking!!

      A parking charge has only recently been imposed but local over 70's have free parking.

      Yes, that is a particularly nice one. We must walk around town and find some more.

    I haven't been to the town basin for a few years but there was a nice coffee shop down there that we use to visit.

      Well worth a visit. The Hatea Loop http://www.whangareinz.com/holiday/activities/the-hatea-loop-huarahi-o-te-whai is well worth doing. A 4.2 kms walk. As you say, plenty of cafes.

    Both NZ and Oz provide very good kids playgrounds; I wonder why Europe doesn't do the same?

    That's a fascinating mural, full of detail and movement. We are on opposite sides of the world but our weather seems to have reached one of those seasonal cross-over points when we can both enjoy some grand weather.

      Yes, John. We have been very lucky with our weather this year.

      That particular mural was in support of the Hundertwasser designed building being constructed here.
