It has been suggested that the Parkinson Walking Group goes to Tahi
see here for a walk. I phoned them and three of us went there for a walk today to see the lay of the land. Doug and I are not too sure about it being a good walk for the group. It is about 3/4 hours drive along a very winding road and the walk we did, which was the shorter one and the one they suggested, was a bit long and really no more interesting than the walk we do around Lake Waro and was quite difficult in one place. The cafe is also closing next weekend even though the recent advert said "mid February'. Anyway, we will see what the group thinks.
The cafe was open today and we had a coffee, iced coffee and cold drink with chocolate brownie for 2 and blueberry cheesecake.
Here are some photos from today.
I liked the shed at the entrance
It has been a hot day (for here anyway). When I checked on my phone a few minutes ago it told me it has been 31 degrees C and is now 29 but feels like 31.
Even if it's ultimately not a suitable walk for the group, it sure does look lovely where you were.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was very enjoyable
DeleteToo hot down here, fan going, and cold dinner was on the menu. The walk photos look great, but if it is too long and a winding road to start with, hope you can find another more suitable walk next time.
ReplyDeleteYes, hot again today. Have a shorter walk in the bush next time as forecast is 31 degrees.
DeleteIt looks interesting, though obviously has problems when planning a group walk.
ReplyDeleteA cloudy start, but heading for top 20s today and forecast 33 tomorrow.
Yes, it wasn't the most suitable and a long drive.
DeleteLooks like a pleasant walk, but I agree that 31 degrees is getting uncomfortable for walking.
ReplyDeleteYes, and forecast going up to 32 next week.
DeleteI think it is great that you are checking out the walk first. I have been on two group walks that were not checked first, and both became almost dangerous because of their unsuitability to most of the people involved.
ReplyDeleteIt was very hot here too.
Yes, we were worried someone could slip on the unsteady ground.
DeleteNice looking area. The Goose looks like the ones we had at Welshampton.
ReplyDeleteYes, nice area but no more than many other walks closer to home.
