Luckily it was a tad warmer than the 4°C we had yesterday morning but we headed out well rugged up and went down to the Town Basin. The Cupola for the Hundertwasser Art Centre was being barged up the river and craned onto the building after being covered in gold leaf.
We arrived just before 8 a.m. and found a position across the river where we had a good view.
There were plenty of people there to watch
A bit further on we noticed that the Cupola now had its blue cap in place.
The weather was perfect.
Glad to hear that you're feeling a little better. I wonder how you would go about making a cupola like that. The children's paintings are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteJohn, I wouldn't know where to start with the cupola. We thought the children's paintings were delightful.
DeleteI am glad to read that you are feeling better, Sue. Seven weeks is a long time to feel poorly.
ReplyDeleteI have only been on Blogger sporadically lately and I miss reading your posts. Life and other things happen. I am trying to catch up.
Take care, dear friend, and I hope all your strength and vigor comes back quickly. You and Doug are an inspiration to many of us.
Thank you. A bit tired again today but looking forward to having more energy.

So pleased we went to see it and the breakfast afterwards was delicious. Must do it more often. I love the building.
DeleteGlad you are finally starting to feel better. We watched the cupola getting put into place on the News last night. Looks like it should be an interesting place to visit in the future.
ReplyDeleteYes, we saw it on the news as well. It is due to open at the beginning of December with a Hundertwasser and a Maori museum.
DeleteBrilliant! Wish we could be there for the opening...hope we will see it one day. That was a good thing to do with the childrens' paintings. Artists of the future!

ReplyDeleteIt is very controversial here but we love it.
