SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT.

We have been very busy here but had a break today when something a little different happened.  I went into the garden and there was a huge crane in the garden behind us.

Most of the neighbours were outside watching.  A "cabin" had been trucked to the garden a couple of houses down from us and was being lifted over the fence to the house behind.  The crane was huge there were five more extensions that could have been extended (they were going to use a smaller one but it was out of action).

The cabin and a smaller one containing a bathroom is for the couple's daughter and her husband as they had to leave their rental accommodation and properties either to rent or buy are hard to come by.

It was actually a lovely day today but looking at the photos some clouds must have come in just as the cabin was being lifted.

I have not been blogging or viewing blogs as we have been busy in the garden as well as getting things ready for Christmas.  We put our decorations up last weekend as we have the Parkinson Walking group coming here for their Christmas morning tea on Monday.

Covid has been slowly spreading up here and people from Auckland are to be allowed to travel out of the city prior to Christmas so it is bound to get worse. For this reason we are trying to get as much shopping as possible done beforehand.

  1. A sleepout! A neat if expensive way of delivery, but a lot less work and quicker.

Glad to hear that you have been busy, I thought it was a while since we had heard from you!

We are being extra careful here too. People think just because they have had the vaccine that they don't have to bother with anything else and it's unfortunately not so.

Keeping indoors safe here because of high winds here..and plenty to do!

    1. They couldn't get it into position on a truck so the crane was the only option. This new variant sounds frightening.

  2. Down here rent charges are so high , what a great idea if the parents have the space. What excited about.ever will the Teddy Bears make of this weeks Political drama?? Something like not seen before I am guessing, at least it gave the media something other than the Covid numbers to get

    1. Rents here are horrendous. Teddy bears have left home. The caravan was missing one day and is now back and looks as though it has been prepared for use and the teddies have gone to their other home. Yes, the political scene is unusual to say the least at present.

  3. Those cranes are amazing in the way that they can drop something like that cabin onto the exact spot.

  4. Incredible the way they can just lift up a small house like that. Quite a sight

  5. That's something you don't see everyday. I don't think we will put too many decorations up, probably my lights outside and a couple of things inside but nothing major.

    1. We haven't put as many decorations as usual but I wanted to get the porch decorated for the Christmas morning tea.

  6. I began reading your post prior to clicking on it (and therefore not seeing its attendant image) and thought: Oh, a crane! How nice! :D

  7. Those cabin people must be doing a roaring trade at the moment - I know friends have got one for their daughter (also unable to find rental accommodation) and one appeared overnight in our next street.
I hope your morning tea goes really well :) xx

    1. Yes, the cabins are ideal if people have the room (and means). I am sure the morning tea will go well although I have had vertigo all weekend - it is starting to ease so I hope it will be better tomorrow.
