SKIP AND BANANAS

We ordered a 6m skip for the creepers we had cut down from the fence and other rubbish

and were quite surprised when the one below arrived (a 9m skip)  apparently they didn't have any of the 6m available so gave us the larger one instead (at no extra charge).  It arrived on Monday and has been a busy week clearing up and filling the skip.

being taller it was a bit harder putting the rubbish in but we have made good use of it.  The old garden edging is in there and a lot of prunings that were too large for the compost bins.  We have it until Monday so may well find more over the weekend.  As you can see it is cloudy today and a shower or two would be very welcome.

On the banana front we have almost finished the first bunch as we have had several visitors this week.  The second bunch that was green when picked has started to turn colour.  The ripe ones were on the far side so I had to spin them to get a photo.  Today's visitor was one of Doug's nieces and, when we asked if she would like some bananas asked what type as she has been eating locally grown ones and wasn't interested in going back to the shop ones.

  1. In the UK, if you order a skip it is filled within a few hours. Everyone in the neighbourhood brings their rubbish to fill it.

    1. I thought we might have had something put in by someone else but nothing. We have it for a week so a couple more days.

  2. We share our neighbour's weekly rubbish bin, so thoughtful as they don't fill it themselves. What a massive size your skip is.

    1. Yes it is huge. A bit hard to reach up to put things in. There was a lot from the creepers we removed plus the old garden edging and we kept on finding things.

  3. That was generous! I doubt that that would happen here.

    1. The bananas are a different variety (Ladyfinger bananas) and they are really tasty and a firmer texture.

  4. We are almost ready here for another skip - there is quite a pile of rubbish built up behind the garage now. One of the problems of renovations - it doesn't go in the household rubbish bin!

    1. We were surprised at how much rubbish we found but it is our first skip in the five years I have been here.

  5. Those bananas really must be delicious. We have banana plants around here and a lot on the island of Crete. I don't remember ever trying them

  6. Always good to get rid of rubbish. I spent some time yesterday doing some weeding which looked like it hadn't been done in a long time.

  7. Whew...I'm tired thinking how hard and long you worked to get that much yard waste. Nice of the company to bring you the larger one but not charge for it. I've never seen bananas grow like that, but they sure look good. Popped in from a mutual friends blog. It's always fun to meet new bloggers.
