On Wednesday last week we were not needed to sort the junk mail and so we decided to go to the beach. The first beach we went to was Ngunguru whch is 21 kms away and the furthest was 27 kms, Wellington's Bay. I took something for lunch but Doug bought a delicious pie and mussel fritter from a cafe in Ngunguru although he could only manage the fritter and ate the pie for his evening meal.
Looking across to the Nunguru Sandspit
We stood on the seawall and watched these gulls below us doing a little dance to bring some tasty morsel to the surface.
A couple of dinghies waiting for their owners.
How marvellous to have totally empty beaches. Not like Brighton! Are there any free shellfish around?
ReplyDeleteJust cockles. Mussels in the other direction although we buy farmed mussels live in the shell.
DeleteLovely sands. Great place for a picnic
ReplyDeleteWe have so many beautiful beaches around us.
DeleteSuch beautiful skies, even if the clouds did build up during the day. Winter is often the best time at the coast if you pick the right day.
ReplyDeleteI agree. You have some beautiful beaches as well.
DeleteWhat a great excursion for midwinter! Love your photos - it is like being there at the beach with you :)
ReplyDeleteWe were lucky with the day. The rain came back the following day.
DeleteWhat a beautiful, calm, and relaxing spot in which to spend your day - it looks as if you had it all to yourselves.
ReplyDeleteThe first beach had 3 or 4 cars parked so we drove past that. The second one, where we picnicked had a couple at the other end of the beach but we didn't see anyone and the far (and largest) beach it was just us.
DeleteGood to have a break from Winter weather...lovely beaches
ReplyDeleteand it was great that we were free to enjoy it.
DeleteIt looks absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe have some wonderful beaches here. (You do as well)
DeleteSo nice being at the beach in winter, literally no one else there, so quiet. I haven't been to that one in years.
ReplyDeleteAll the beaches on that coast are lovely.
