I have grown purple cauliflower for the first time this year and they have done quite well. The photo makes it look a bit smaller and paler.
Last year we tried cauliflower mash and enjoyed it so have been making it with the purple ones. It turns out a pretty green and is delicious. We had it with leg of lamb.
i think from memory I've tried it once and didn't really notice anything different from the normal cauli, although they are perfect for adding cheese sauce.
I have always covered the heads with the leaves but just realised I should have left these as I noticed the one not covered is a much darker colour. Still the taste was good.
I adore Caulis, of all colours. They are so versatile. Yours looks great.
ReplyDeleteWe finished the second one today. 4 left.
ReplyDeleteI admire you for growing cauliflower, I grow other veggies but not that one. Purple would be fun.
ReplyDeleteI am surprised at how well they have done with our wet and windy weather. I ended up staking them as they were getting blown over.
DeleteWe have purple cauliflower here but I've never tried it. Interesting that it turns green.
ReplyDeleteIt is quite nice. No better than the ordinary cauliflower.
DeleteWe love the green Romanescu cauli
ReplyDeleteThat's my favourite. I was buying seedlings and it wasn't available hence the purple.

ReplyDeleteI don't know why your comment went to spam. Yes they would be good with cheese sauce.
DeleteThat is a good looking cauli you have grown :)
