Better timing this year. Just finishing the last bunch when we noticed another bunch turning yellow.
I have just delivered a hand each to three of our neighbours (each hand containing 6 or 7 bananas) and had one with my lunch. Still a lot left so will be giving out more.
Before we left Lingfield, I suppose late 1950's Fyffes built a storage/ripening shed there. Presumably, for some reason, they are going through too quickly.
Willian sent a picture recently of bunches he'd picked at his home in Thailand.
ReplyDeleteBananas everywhere.
DeleteHow wonderful to have your own banana palm and enough bananas to share around. That really sounds exotic
ReplyDeleteThere are several more bunches to ripen although it is getting colder now so they could take a while.
DeleteNice and neighbourly. Do you ever bake one? I know it is a bit of a marmite thing, people either love them or hate them.
ReplyDeleteI haven't baked them but fried, preferably in butter, they are delicious.
DeleteLovely to see that.
ReplyDeleteAll the bananas in the shops here are solidly green..just when you want one to eat right now!!

DeleteSo nice being able to give away produce to friends and family, the last lot I gave away were Chinese cabbage and herbs.
ReplyDeleteYes, in summer tomatoes and beans.
DeleteWow. What a great bunch!
ReplyDeleteYes, these are fatter than the last lot. They get better and better.
