A couple of days ago I sent my niece (Cro's daughter, Tenpin) an email about the Haemochromatosis as I thought she may like to get checked. By co-incidence she had just been discussing it as a family member of a friend had been diagnosed.
Anyway, a couple of hours ago I was in the garden clearing a space for some Basil when I heard a car come up the drive. I went to investigate and it was the local florist with this Anthurium Andreanum plant in a flax basket.
Having a husband with Alzheimer's, I am not used to receiving presents. It really made my day.
. Thanks again Tenpin
On another bright note, yesterday I was talking to the podiatrist who visits Max and she told me that when she visited him last he had the centipede that I gave him and was showing her the different things he could do with it, telling her all the colours and getting each segment to make its respective noise. When I visit he doesn't interact with it like that so it was good to know and made me feel better.
Your plant looks lovely in its flax basket, and the stones add a perfect touch. Good news from the " Foot Lady", Greetings from Jean
ReplyDeleteJean, I was really pleased to hear that Max is interacting with the centipede. Yes, the plant is lovely. Hope all going well for Hugh.
DeleteThat was nice of Tenpin. She's a good girl!
ReplyDeleteYes, she is - very thoughtful.
DeleteA very thoughtful gift, and how nice that your husband is enjoying the centipede even though you thought he was ignoring it.
ReplyDeleteYes, I will try leaving the wooden toy out with him now and see how he goes with that when I am not there.
DeleteIt's nice to get presents! What a good niece.
ReplyDeleteOn both counts, how wonderful for you Susan ! good thoughts to think back on for those yechy days that creep in to our lives from time to time !
ReplyDeleteTwo lovely surprises in one day is great, Susan.
ReplyDeleteAnd I finally got around to washing the car as well. Have to take it for its Warrant of Fitness check shortly.
DeletePS Susan I was just telling my sister-in-law, who has clients with alzheimers about the centipedes; is there a website I can find a photo or method how to make them or anything? Could you possibly let me know by email? justnorthofwiarton@live.com Would so appreciate this, if possible, Susan. Thanks in advance.
ReplyDeleteThe photo is on my previous post "TOYS" I know the label is American - will check it out and let you know brand etc.
DeleteSusan, thanks I will send her your photo, with your permission of course, as I am sure she could find something similar here. Um, for the life of me I can't figure out why your email came back for justnorthofwiarton@live.ca (just checked & it seems to be working). I so much appreciate you taking the time out on this for me, and I am certain my SIL will as well. Once again thank you, Susan.
DeleteThat was nice of Tenpin to send you that pretty plant. So pleased too that M likes the centipede. Two happy surprises in one day.
ReplyDeleteand another one Molly, a friend and I are going to see Alan Davies in February - apparently he is coming to Whangarei because on his day off, the following day, England is playing N.Z. at cricket and he wants to watch it.
DeleteHi Susan
ReplyDeletethanks for the comment on the basket post.
What a lovely gift, I like the flax basket, I'm sure you'll find a use for that.
On the subject of Alzheimer's I have been reading some interesting facts about wheat and gluton maybe having a part to play in the illness, its in its early research stages at the moment but it wouldn't surprise me if there is something in it. I know that since I have left wheat and gluton out of my diet I am not getting the blues and feel so much more in the here and now, if you know what I mean. just thought I'd mention it.
