Santa delivered the present I asked him for although it could have had a lot to do with the fact that I mentioned to Doug that I would like a new bird bath to replace my old one that had seen better days.
The birds have been a bit slow to bathe in it although they do use it to drink from.
Yesterday I was thrilled to see a Kereru or Native Pigeon drinking from it.
I was indoors and the first hurried photo was on normal lens but the second one used the zoom. You will need to enlarge the photos to see the kereru.
Wow, what a thrill alright! Beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteNever saw them when we were up north so were thrilled when we moved here to have them in our garden.
DeleteBeautiful, is the blue bath attached to the lower part? What a great photo.
ReplyDeleteNot attached - the bird bath sits on the table. Doug built it for me for my old bird bath and then rebuilt the top part for this new bath.
DeleteYep, a kereru! That's your new bird bath well and truly approved of by the local clientele. He/she is looking at the camera benignly, as befits a rockstar tolerating the paparazzi. I hope he/she comes back with all his friends and relations!
ReplyDeleteHe/she was back yesterday when I was out in the garden. He perched in my Karaka tree.
DeletePS: meant to add, your garden is looking beautifully green and lush. Oh, that Northern climate!
ReplyDeleteLots of warmth and rain so far this summer which equates to lots of growth (especially the lawns which looked as though they were dying from drought a month or so ago).
ReplyDeleteOh what a wonderful sight - that's a great photo Sue!
ReplyDeleteI often hear them as we have a large old Totora in our garden but I've yet to see them.
Cats or a dog broke my old bird bath, I've got a replacement but I'm still looking for another.
I like your saucer shape - it's a wonderful blue.
I've emailed the recipe.

Oops - me too, I meant to say your garden is looking lovely - I can see why the birds like to visit!
ReplyDeleteWhat a handsome bird and a very pretty birdbath.
ReplyDeleteIsn't he gorgeous - he is so large hew makes the bird bath look small.
