We had a lovely lunch and I met up with friends and acquaintances I had not seen since leaving the area 10 years ago.
Hilary asked her daughter for a rainbow cake and by all accounts it was as good as it looked.
We allowed ourselves three hours to get there giving us time for any hold-ups and a coffee break but got home in exactly 2 hours.
As far as my eyes are concerned I saw the specialist on Wednesday and am booked for the left eye on Thursday and the right eye a week later.
Beautiful landscape and...birthday cake!
ReplyDeleteBest of Luck with your eye surgery!
That is a lovely harbour - walking distance from where Doug spent his first four years and later his holidays staying with his Grandmother. Thanks for the good wishes.
DeleteI like those marinas. It always annoys me that Brighton built their marina way out of town (where you can't see it). I believe it's the biggest in Europe, and it would have been so nice to have all the boats nearer the centre. Hope your eye visits go well.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen Brighton Marina - is it in a harbour. This is near the top of a long harbour. Thanks for the good wishes.
DeleteGood luck with the eye surgery - there seem to be loads of 90 year olds around these days - they are more like 70 year olds these days.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rosemary. Yes, and people going past 100.
DeleteYour eyes, is this public or private? I saw on a web page it all depends where you live to get the magic number to qualify for public cataract surgery, and here we are almost at the highest level. I see our optometrist in 10 days.Taipa, we were there in about 1968!!! Guess it has changed since then, but was so beautiful and peaceful.
ReplyDeletePrivate. I just want to get it done. Doug had his done privately a couple of years ago. I already go to the Ophthalmologist regularly for my blepharitis so he will do the ops. Yes, Taipa is still as beautiful. We were so busy with the birthday lunch that I forgot to take photos there.
DeleteWishing you very well for the eye surgery, Susan.
ReplyDeleteThe harbor photos are stunning. What gorgeous views.
Your friend's very tall cake looks like it will contain all the colors of the rainbow.:) 90 is a remarkable age to be, I'll bet.
A lovely trip...what a cake!!
ReplyDeleteAll the best for the ops. XX
