Parkinson Walk - 5th November

This morning I took my car in for its 6 monthly warrant of fitness and Sue at the garage drove me to Tarewa Park  where we started our walk.

We walked across the park past a very pleasant children's playground and across a bridge to the new walkway alongside a stream.  This is going to be part of a much larger walkway.  We then crossed back across the stream to the Raumanga Valley Reserve.

The walk took us across two parks with oaks and other European trees and into the bush with native trees to the waterfall and then back again.

Once again we were lucky with the weather with just a few drops of rain as we finished our walk.  (Mind you we could do with some decent rain as the soil is very dry).

Unfortunately, I couldn't get a decent photo of the waterfall from below because of the bush.

We finished up with the usual coffee and then one of the party dropped me off at the garage to collect my car.

I also discovered that one of Max' carers is the daughter of one of the walkers -  Whangarei gets smaller the longer I live here.

I was due to go up to Doubtless Bay on Thursday for a short break but when I got home there was a message on my answerphone and my friend is unwell so it is postponed in the meantime.

  2. Good for you being on top of the Health and Welfare of your vehicle. I think we get the oil changed in ours every 3,000 km? You have such lovely places to go walking where you live, Susan. I had sent the photo of the caterpillar onto my SIL, I think I will give her a call this week to find out her thoughts. Thank you once again.

  4. Sue, your walk looks lovely. What a co-incidence to meet the parent. Glad you had a nice day out. Hope your car passes its fitness test with flying colours.

  5. Our cars have to be inspected once a year. Of course, the older my car gets, the bigger the bill. My Suburu is 7 now and so they will make a nice amount nome.

I wish I could go out for a walk but the first breath of winter has come upon us and in another day we are expecting a full blown nor'easter storm.

  6. Sue, I've just found your comment - brilliant your car got through. I always give a big sigh of relief when mine makes it through the MOT - repairs cost an arm and a leg. Wasn't it great to find out that M's carer was your friend's daughter. Hope there's another walk coming up soon - the scenery is beautiful.

  7. Your weather sounds like Canterbury weather at the moment but it has been too cold here. Your walk had so much diversity in it - lovely. We wouldn't get a narrowboat down that stream would we :-)
