I have never seen one of these before - looking it up it is a leaf veined native slug. I was removing the leaves? of the yukka and they are on the underside of one of the leaves.
The coin is a New Zealand dollar - 2 cm across. In the second photo one of them has gone to the underside of the leaf (there were three in the top photo. I will take the leaf down to the gully and they can roam there.
They are very strange little creatures.
ReplyDeleteEwww I do not do slugs very well. They are in the same category I have placed big black hair legged spiders...
ReplyDeleteThey look almost transparent - a bit like miniature jelly fish. I think it's a good idea to take them for a little walk somewhere else too.
ReplyDeleteNature in all her infinite variety, Susan. :-) The don't look like slugs to me either, but I bet they can do the same damage if left.
ReplyDeleteSlugs and snails are my enemies. I never give them a second chance.
ReplyDeleteSlugs may have a purpose, but the one I can't tolerate is eating a ring around my tomatos.
ReplyDeleteWhat odd little creatures, but just as disgusting as our local slugs. I should toss them into the chicken yard.
ReplyDeleteIf only I had a chicken yard.
