Anyway, we have just finished a bag of potatoes and the tops of our ones are dying down so today I dug the first plant. 900 gms of potatoes. They could, possibly, have been left a bit longer as there were many smaller ones coming on but we will continue to dig them as needed from now on.
They get a good write up so we shall see when we have them tonight.
LATER:
They were delicious.

Will you save one or two to use when they sprout again?
ReplyDeleteNot sure. I often plant the odd potatoe bought from the supermarket if they start to sprout so, most likely will plant one of these if they sprout.
DeleteI usually don't bother with spuds as they're so cheap to buy, and take up room. But last year I put in a row, and they were all very small. I like the idea of delving into the soil, but I shan't bother again.
ReplyDeleteWe always used to brow them when we were up north until the farmer across the road started growing them by the acre. He gave them to us if we dug them ourselves so I used to go over and get them and kumara. I just love digging potatoes.
DeleteWe put in two built up gardens and used one for potatoes and they are only in for about three months so, all going well, I am sure we will grow them again.
"grow" not "brow"
DeleteI haven’t planted but have prepared and eaten purple potatoes. They were good and made a nice presentation on the plates.
ReplyDeleteThese ones were cream inside. I have eaten purple Maori potatoes before. They look beautiful.
DeleteYum, I don't think I've ever tried them before.
ReplyDeleteIf you steam instead of boil the potatoes, you keep both colour and flavour
ReplyDeleteI really like you post good blog in site,Thanks for your sharing.
