A NEW CASE OF COVID

We have just been told of the first case of Community Transmission since November 18. A lady who tested negative twice in Managed Isolation and was then released and headed north.  The area she has been is just to the south of us.  Rather too close for comfort.  They are yet to release the details of shops and other places she visited.  Apparently she was very careful about scanning into places she visited so that is good.

Anyway, we have cancelled the Parkinson walk for tomorrow as it is better to be on the safe side.  It has been a warm day with temperatures forecast to be 28° tomorrow, 29° on Wednesday and 30° on Thursday.

  1. We are keeping an eye on the situation to see what will develop. No doubt people will panic again and inundate the supermarkets for their supply of toilet paper! :))

    1. I usually keep 2 - 3 of the g.f. loaves I like in the deep freezer as they are hard to find. Of course there were none when we shopped on Saturday and I am on my last one.

  2. It must seem especially disheartening in NZ after doing such a good job of containing COVID.

    1. I think it had to happen with these new strains and so many people returning to N.Z.

  3. I see the list this morning, she was very diligent, and good sense to stay home until all those places are cleared of any possibility of infection.Scary after 2 negative tests, maybe the strain has a longer incubation time, or someone in the isolation hotel had the same strain.

    1. I saw the list late last night and the Lass who used to live next door (and now lives 400 meters away in the next street) and owned Bobby the cat works for Bendon.
It will be interesting to see where she caught it.

  4. There was a group of about 25 'gap-year' Brits who recently came skiing here in France. They had all tested negative before leaving Blighty, then most developed the virus after a few days. They are all now in isolation. The Ski Village where they are staying is not happy.

    1. It seems as though this lady picked it up in Isolation.

  5. You are fortunate to have a government that is behaving responsibly in this pandemic. I wish I could say the same for ours. Stay safe.

    1. Yes, we are very lucky. Even though this was likely to happen it was a shock so close to home. She visited a lot of shops here in Whangarei that I often visit. It is important for you to stay safe.

  6. I think it's been a huge eye opener here and for the good too, so many people up here don't bother scanning their apps when they visit businesses, it's crazy.

    1. I agree. I always scan although sometimes with reflection of glass it can be difficult. There are always people who ignore it. I also have bluetooth switched on. Doug relies on me doing it as he doesn't have a smartphone
