WHAT A STRANGE DAY.

Although we knew that the Capitol had been invaded we had not seen or heard the News yesterday but sat down to watch the 7 p.m. news only to have a visitor, Doug's primary school friend.  Consequently, this morning I looked with horror at what had unfolded in Washington.  Doug and I were always worried about Trump starting a civil war and we saw that was exactly what was printed on the Tee shirts.

I just hope that enough people see sense for all this destruction to stop and feel so sorry for people in the U.S.A.  as they don't seem very united at present.

On the home front we awoke to the sound of rain.  It was supposed to start at about 2 a.m. and it kept going until 11 a.m. with more forecast.  Wonderful, no watering tonight and, hopefully, tomorrow as well.  We are still taking it easy and Doug is lying down at present.

After the rain it has turned quite humid.

  1. And there were 5 dead. He has blood on his hands, which he's now trying to wash away.

  2. We were watching it too, so ludicrous really as for the rain we had it for most of the day, it was much needed.

  4. No one should be surprised at the events that just occurred. Let no one forget that just two months ago 74 millions of Americans voted for Donald Trump, more votes than any other candidate in history, save for Joe Biden. The incident at the Capitol is over, but the divisions in the country remain, and you saw the decent, upstanding citizens with their foul mouths and automatic weapons who want to solve it. We live just an hour from the border, have not visited the United States since 2012, and I doubt that we will ever do so again. New Zealand seems a far more appealing choice!

  5. Yes, no one should be surprised as we have seen his rallies all over the country for four years. No one should have been surprised because tRump broadcast to everybody to come to DC on Wednesday and said that it will be wild. Information about what would happen was all over the web. I was very nervous about what could occur, even though I could have never imagined what did. However, the FBI and Intelligence, police force, and security seemed to have no clue and left Washington vulnerable. How could that be? There are a lot of questions to be answered. I am so glad that we will have a new, experienced, decent administration sworn in soon. We have a lot of fixing to be done.

  6. Yes, we are so lucky here. I just hope he is not able to do any more damage. I find it so hard to understand the large number of people who believe in him.
