MONARCH CATERPILLARS

Doug's eldest grand-daughter asked if we could take some of her caterpillars as she is running out of food for them.  She brought them here earlier in the week.  They seem quite happy.

We have just been down to the Town Basin for a birthday tea for her daughter who has just turned 6.  It was a unicorn party with pizza, cupcakes  and, of course, a birthday cake.  She asked for some more Swan plant for her remaining caterpillars so we took a bunch.

After having trouble with Bobby's pill yesterday we decided to try putting it in a piece of lamb's heart.  We gave him 5 small pieces and he ate the one with the pill first.  Let's hope he does that tomorrow.

  1. Some of my clients have very big swan plants here, one is about 2 metres high.

  2. It's a problem giving pets medicine isn't it. Because of Rupert's hair ball history we give him a laxative each day to help things move along (recommended by the vet) it's liquid and I put just a small amount on his food but I swear he can detect it and unless the food is very 'stinky' he won't eat it. I have nightmares trying to get him to take it as if he gets one stuck again he would have to go to kitty heaven, we couldn't pay out £1.500 again.
Let's hope the heart works. I know ours like fresh mince, (just now and again as a treat ) maybe he would.

    1. It took three goes with the heart today. He kept spitting it out. Next time I have raw mince I will try it. Pets can be such a worry as you well know.

  3. No caterpillars here (no swan plants!), but we have had several monarchs flying around so somebody near by has them.

    1. We didn't have any caterpillars here - the wasps must be getting them when very small so it was good to get some from grand-daughter.
