I went to New World Supermarket in Regent this morning. There was no queue and I have never seen so few customers. Not only was I able to buy exactly what was on my list but the brands I prefer as well. Masks are mandatory and there were extra precautions in place such as standing back at checkout until ones groceries had been placed in a new trolley and the operator had walked away before being able to go forward and finish the transaction.
We were shown a map by the Prime Minister showing where in the country "close contacts" are and the whole of Northland was marked so fingers crossed that we don't get any cases up here.
We are quite happy in our bubble with our daily walk around the streets. Keep safe everyone.
I was amazed to see the contact dots went from Wellington all the way up the main highway past us to Whanganui. But your area is SO blue.We3 are doing groceries tomorrow, and keeping in line with the rules, I will be the one person to go into the store. Hope I can see without my glasses as they fog up so easily.I am not surprised at the extension, and after Friday night, hope they have very secure road blocks to contain the Aucklanders where they should be staying. You don't want anyone up there out of your own area, stay safe, both of you.XXX
ReplyDeleteI presume with our area it was all the people from Auckland that headed up here to their holiday homes last Tuesday night. Hope your shop is as easy as mine was. Take care and stay safe. XXX
DeleteWe were shocked when we saw the close contacts list today, I don't think we expected quite so many to be in Northland.
ReplyDeleteWe expected a few but not that many. Stay safe up there.
DeleteNow that you are double jabbed, all you can do is stay as safe as possible, eat good healthy food, and get as much exercise as you safely can. Otherwise, crossing fingers helps!
ReplyDeleteWe rarely see anyone on our 1.75 kms. morning walk, the food is always healthy and we are quite happy in our bubble.
DeleteGood that the supermarket was empty and you found everything you needed. How silly all are those that panic buy.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your walks
People who can are asked to shop in person rather than on line and leave the "slots" for those in isolation.
DeleteGlad you are managing ok.
ReplyDeleteSame as here, people heading for holiday homes..so selfish.
As soon as it was announced people in Auckland started driving up here with their boats etc. Apparently, there was a steady stream the first night. Ridiculous.
DeleteI hope your government and people get on top of this latest variant, though everything I've seen here suggests that the longer this goes on, the more careless and selfish people become.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, there are always some people who disregard the rules but the majority are in Lockdown.
DeleteI hope your lockdown stays manageble and doesn't worsen. We've had a long time of it in Blighty and it has been very damaging all round. Jean.
ReplyDeleteNumber of cases daily still increasing. Hopefully, they will soon start to decrease.
DeleteStay safe. I chose to wear a mask when grocery shopping, and at this moment where I live in California masks are required indoors. But that could change at any time. I wear the KN95 masks, I read they filter out the most virus.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time masks have been mandatory here. I was quite happy wearing one. Just the standard blue 3 layer.
