After we did the Lights Trail we drove to a nearby subdivision where we had heard about a house that was decorated.
We were surprised by what we found as there were several houses decorated.
We only got photos of three of the houses.
This was our favourite and the colours changed as in the two photos
The next house was a bit overdone and had music playing as well as lights beamed onto the Totara Trees opposite. It was hard to get a photo because of all the flashing lights.
People having fun! Nice to see individuality, even if some are a bit OTT!!
ReplyDeleteIt was a lovely atmosphere. People were chatting and everyone enjoying themselves.
DeleteIt's a good idea to have a list of these (over-)? decorated houses. I'm sure there are plenty around here if I only knew where to look. When I worked at the school for children with disabilities we had a colleague who would drive around all the nearby villages finding the best lights, then we'd take the children on a night time tour. They loved it.
ReplyDeleteYes, John, also the Rest Homes and Retirement Villages often take a bus around the various sites. There were lots this year, so many that they did lists of the different areas. We have only been to this one site.
DeleteVisiting decorated houses is a neat idea. I often wonder how much the owners of the properties spend on lights cos they aren't cheap in the shops.
ReplyDeleteYes, Amy, it would have cost a lot to decorate those houses.
DeleteSounds like a delightful stroll with a bit of free entertainment thrown in.
ReplyDeleteWe really enjoyed it. Don't often go out at night these days.
DeleteI know what you mean about the displays that go to the limit. I have to say though that I do appreciate the effort they go to and feel for them after Christmas when the have to take them all down.
ReplyDeleteIt would be a major job packing it all away. I know with our decorations here it takes some time.
DeleteI always find them harder to put away on account of the motivation not being the same as when getting them out to put up.
