ENOUGH!!!!

I think you will need to click on this to read it but it is not good.

It is hosing down, the thunderstorms haven't started yet but please, we have had enough rain.  At least it is quite warm and looks as though it will ease a bit tomorrow and, fingers crossed, we may have some fine weather later in the week.  I need it to catch up with the washing as I don't like to use the dryer unless absolutely necessary.

On another note, we really enjoyed the Coronation Concert last night, even managed to watch to the end just before 11 p.m.

Doug is at his painting class today so I am catching up on phone calls and blogs.

UPDATE; a school outdoor education class got trapped in Abbey Caves in Whangarei and one boy is still missing.  The main Highway between here and Auckland is closed  and a Civil Defence Emergency has been declared once again in Auckland.

FURTHER UPDATE WEDNESDAY MORNING;

Specialist equipment arrived last night so the search continued and the young man's body was found.  May he rest in peace.

  1. Gosh, you seem to be having bad luck this year. Here Summer hasn't even begun and already they've been talking about hosepipe bans.

    1. That's because all the rain is down here. I hope the missing boy is found. Apparently he got washed away.

  2. An unenticing forecast if ever I saw one. Here we appear to be stuck in April showers mode for the seventh week! Hope the young boy is Ok.

    1. It is not looking good. Apparently he was swept away at about 10.30 a.m. and they stopped the search for the night at 5 p.m.

  3. That's not good. Makes our rain and thunder here sound rather tame.
Why do they go to caves when rain is forecast?

    1. That is what everyone is asking. There are signs at the caves about flooding.

    1. They will start searching again at first light. It is hard to imagine what his parents are going through while they wait.

  5. It will be a terrible worry for the boys parents - hope that he is found safe and sound.
I am surprised that there has been no flooding here, we have certainly had our fair share of rain.

    1. As I noted above, the search was able to continue last night and the young man's body was recovered. As you can imagine there are lots of questions being asked as to why this went ahead with the rain warning in place.

    2. Especially after the cave rescue that was on the news not too many years ago

    3. I just read that they were supposed to go rock climbing but went in the caves because of the rain!

  6. They have found the body which is somewhat nice for the family. Boggles my mind though. I know the area and Waipu Caves well, it's common sense enough to check the weather reports before going in. I'm sure the parents are hurting.

    1. At least they got special equipment and were able to keep going and find the body. Not Waipu Caves but Abbey Caves in Whangarei. Waipu Caves cancelled a school trip same day.
