DOUG'S LATEST PROJECT

I have mentioned before that this house was a rental prior to Doug buying.  There was a lot of work to do and he had a sick wife to look after.  For a cupboard in the dining room he purchased a white melamine cupboard.

It has served its purpose well.

I had a look for a hutch dresser that would fit in the gap but couldn't find one the right size so Doug said he would build one.

It takes up less space than the old cupboard but has more shelves (yet to be filled).  Thank you Doug.

It was a lot of work.  Of course nothing is ever square but I think he has done a wonderful job.

  1. It looks pretty square to me, but what are a few mm's between spouses!

    1. The finished job is square - it was the corners he had to fit it into that were slightly out.

  3. I agree with 'local alien' - it seems that he can turn his hand to anything.

    1. Yes, it is getting him to stop and rest that is the hard thing.

  4. We have a free standing one like your original, but the new one is a winner. When the very old hot water cylinder ( original from 1951 I think) is taken out after we get infinity gas installed, Hugh will paint the inside and put shelves in,for a pantry. There is something about a very handy man in the home.

    1. That was really a last minute choice from the stains he had on hand.

    1. I have been lucky. Although my late husband was an auto electrician by trade he did lots of building and renovation work on our house.

  7. Your design for the hutch dresser was a really good idea.
Congratulations to Doug for building it!
My husband had a building business and worked very hard - I had lots of ideas but he had no time to arty them out🤣

  8. We are very pleased with it. It looks better and will hold more. The dictionaries we keep handy for crosswords are much easier to reach now. They used to be on the top of the cupboard.
