ANOTHER CREATION

This is Doug's latest creation.  I had two terracotta lamp bases and Doug had a glass fishing float so he teemed them with a terracotta flower pot to hold the float, put it on a heavy base to stop it toppling  and voila.

Another lovely spring day today just like yesterday forecast 21 degrees which is just fine by me.

Late yesterday Doug and I were in the covered back deck when a fantail came in, sat on the clothesline, caught a bug and left.

Didn't get a chance to take a photo but this is a photo from the web.  They are lovely little birds and very fast.

As an aside I do not like Daylight Savings.  I read in the paper yesterday that we get an extra hour of daylight - I don't know what planet the writer is on, the only difference is that it gets light an hour later and I feel as though I am running late all day and am then exhausted at the end of the day.  I much prefer to get up early in summer and do my gardening then as I find it too hot to garden during the heat of the day.

  1. It stays dark here now until after 7.30 am.... much too late. I've been taking Billy for his essential early morning walk in the dark. It mucks-up my day.

    1. Only starting to get light at just before 7 a.m. whereas it was 6.a.m. before clocks changed.

  2. Where does the extra hour come from, all it does is shift it to the evening. So in my mind, no saving at all!!! Love the creation and the wee bird.

    1. I don't like it at all - much rather have it light early. I feel sorry for people like Doug's daughter Christine who starts at about 4 a.m. and, of course, dairy farmers etc.

  3. What a great picture of the fantail! Seems to me that a one hour difference is not much to cope with, but obviously it is for some. We don't go to bed at exactly the same time every day, so an hour here or there is part of our regular cycle anyway. Since you are retired you could opt to stay on one regimen or the other. I know of birders who leave all their timepieces on standard time, calling it "bird time" since birds of course don't reset their clocks.

    1. The fantail photo was from the web. They are quite hard to get a photo of as they are so fast. I know changing the clocks one hour shouldn't cause a problem but it always does. I could not copy with leaving the clocks on standard time all year as I would be forever converting for appointments. I will soon get used to it.

We are light at 7am now..not looking forward to losing the evening light, it is early enough dark as it is already.

    1. At least it is getting lighter here and won't be long until it is light at 6 a.m. once again.

  5. One wonders why that writer thought DST gave them an extra hour. Sounds like the same mentality as those who think extending DST made summer longer.
Doug's new creation looks great :)

  6. Doug is handy. And that's a lovely collection of items in the photo.

Our daylight savings begins after yours. I believe we set our clocks back this weekend.
