GOUT AND FIREWOOD.

Gout and firewood are not a good combination but Doug has gout again.  He has not been eating, or drinking, rich foods.  Anyway, the firewood man phoned this morning as he had a load for us.  He and his mate arrived at about 11 a.m.

Doug had been ordered to keep his feet up today and, it must have been painful, because he did.  I was told not to stack the wood but with rain in the forecast I took no notice and a little at a time I loaded it into my wheelbarrow, wheeled it to the shed and stacked it.  I did some before lunch, some after lunch then had a break and have just stacked the last of it.

Doug has conceded that it was a job well done.

  1. He may feign gout for a while longer and he would be a foolish man indeed to tell you that the job was not well done,

  2. Hope Doug feels much better soon, but you shouldn't overdo carrying and lifting logs - it was rather a strenuous task for you to have undertaken alone.

    1. Thank you, Rosemary. He says it is a lot better today. From when Max went into care until I met Doug - about six months I always did those jobs myself - there was no-one else. Usually, I load the wheelbarrows and Doug empties them and stacks the wood.

  3. You sound like one of the tough old (seriously aged ) greek women around here. They climb trees and haul wood and chase goats. When you gotta do something then you get out and do it.
    Bravo

    1. I must admit it is a while since I climbed a tree or chased a goat.

  4. Good for you! Even though you might hurt some afterwards, that feeling of accomplishment is so good

  6. Sometimes a job just needs doing. I'm glad you got it all in before the rain and without doing yourself any damage. Hope Doug is feeling better.

  7. Well done. Nothing like a good supply of dry wood in the shed!
