PARCEL

A local group started delivering boxes of vegetables recently.  As our winter garden does not contain very much this year I ordered a box on Tuesday just before Lockdown was announced.

It has just been delivered and we are very pleased with the contents.

Everything loose (or a cellophane bag for the spinach) so no plastics and the quality is great.  There are kumara (sweet potato), yams, carrots, spinach, broccoli, squash, oranges, pears,  golden kiwifruit and two bunches of bananas.

There are now 21 cases of Covid all in the Auckland Region.  We will find out tomorrow whether we stay in Lockdown.

  1. Looks great. I notice that your Kiwis come with those small labels, one on each fruit; ours come exactly the same, and I always find it a bit excessive. The last time you mentioned eating yellow Kiwis, the next day I discovered them in my supermarket. I didn't buy them ; I stuck with the green. Are the yellow ones worth buying?

    1. I much prefer the yellow, or the red, and haven't bought the green for years.

Those stickers are a pain as the don't decompose.

  2. I do not like the stickers either. 21 cases, only one from the border, and I am guessing there will be a lot more overnight. We might be in for the long haul once again , this seems to be so easily transferrable.I cannot understand why, when I rang toi get a date for my covid vaccinations, ages ago, I was told the end of September was the earliest., Then I phoned another number and we are listed for 30th August. But in Coromandel, get your covid test, walk across and get the vaccination. Maybe they need it more than we do.Scary as they wait for the results . A super box of lovely colours, and so fresh.

    1. The stickers are a nuisance if they end up in the compost. The vaccination system does seem a bit random.

  3. 22 as of this morning. But what an awesome idea. I could make heaps out of all that.

    1. Yes, a great selection. It is run by a trust providing opportunities for people with disabilities.

  4. That's a lovely boxful!
I suppose the one good thing about the plastic labels is that the fruit isn't wrapped totally in plastic

    1. I dislike the labels but gather some other system is being worked on. At least there were no plastic bags.

  5. Looks like a great box of produce you have received there. It would be handy to have something like that delivered each week while we are in lock-down.
