UPDATE

A very pleasant gentleman arrived to install our new oven and cooktop this morning.  It turned out he is the son of the couple who run the amazing Bird Recovery Centre here in Whangarei and he mentioned that as a child it was quite usual for them to go out fishing (or any other activity) and return with an injured  bird.

We had a feeling that it might need a larger hole in the bench top and this proved to be correct.  Doug soon had this fixed and both went in with no problem (apart from lots of very fine sawdust from the sawing to enlarge the hole.

We had leftovers from yesterday for lunch which we heated in the microwave so have not used the new appliances yet but I am certain they will be a great improvement.

Apart from that it has just been announced that all of New Zealand, apart from Auckland will go down to Level 2 so, hopefully, that will mean Libraries will re-open.

  1. A very smart addition to the kitchen. I'm sure you'll soon be making good use of it.

  2. Your stove looks great. We have a ceramic hob. I love it. Easier to clean, looks smarter and fast working.
    Good cooking

  4. Bosch, maybe the Rolls Royce of all appliances. That looks wonderful, and thanks to Doug and his handy skills. I have been re-reading books from last year, maybe for the third time, and yes, our library should open tomorrow, as well as a fabric shop, I went to find a backing for a wall hanging, and nothing anywhere, there will be distancing and masks, but we all need to observe this and stay safe. Hopefully you way up north and us a lot further south can stay free of any cases.

    1. Yes, I like Bosch. When Doug moved here the house had been a rental and he had a lot to do so just got Mitre 10 to do the kitchen and they supplied the oven and cooktop. I suppose the Library will be really busy to start with. I phoned for another appointment for Doug for his drivers' licence and GP's not doing face to face until next week so booked for Monday. Fingers crossed that the Covid numbers keep decreasing.
