I had never heard of a fire risk at Catastrophic level until this month. My stepdaughter lives in New South Wales and this is today's fire risk.
She said in an email yesterday "At
the moment it's like the end of the world. It is stinking hot and the
smoke is almost unbearable" . They have two horses, four dogs and two cats. All very worrying.
What a worry for you, Susan. I hope your daughter and family and pets all manage to stay safe. It is such an extreme time they are going through at the moment. I can't begin to imagine how horrid it must be. Mxx
It surely begs the question, "Who would choose to live in such areas?"
ReplyDeleteThey have lived there for well over 30 years and had no problems. Australia has had the highest temperature this month since records began.
DeleteAnd it is only going to get worse. We are now starting to change the fundamental characters of the biosphere.
DeleteVery worrying, indeed.
ReplyDeleteIt is and the trouble is the problem seems to be all over Australia.
DeletePeople used to refer to New Zealand as Paradise. With all those fires, hope it's not turning into Hell now. That's sad.
ReplyDeleteNo, this is Australia.

ReplyDeleteThe heat alone would be bad enough without the fires and terrible smoke.
DeleteHow they can stay safe..I think the only choice is evacuation
ReplyDeleteWith horses it is not that easy.
DeleteAnd it's not only in Oz, it seems to be all over the world.
ReplyDeleteYes, what on earth have we done to the world.
