CATASTROPHIC FIRE RISK - CANYONLEIGH

I had never heard of a fire risk at Catastrophic level until this month.  My stepdaughter lives in New South Wales and this is today's fire risk.

She said in an email yesterday  "At the moment it's like the end of the world.  It is stinking hot and the smoke is almost unbearable" .  They have two horses, four dogs and two cats.  All very worrying.

  1. It surely begs the question, "Who would choose to live in such areas?"

    1. They have lived there for well over 30 years and had no problems. Australia has had the highest temperature this month since records began.

    2. And it is only going to get worse. We are now starting to change the fundamental characters of the biosphere.

  3. People used to refer to New Zealand as Paradise. With all those fires, hope it's not turning into Hell now. That's sad.

  4. What a worry for you, Susan. I hope your daughter and family and pets all manage to stay safe. It is such an extreme time they are going through at the moment. I can't begin to imagine how horrid it must be. Mxx

    1. The heat alone would be bad enough without the fires and terrible smoke.
