CORRUGATED ROOFING

Yesterday, Doug picked up the corrugated roofing that we ordered last week.  This morning the forecast was for showers and there was a breeze with occasional stronger gusts  but he wanted to get the iron up.

Luckily, the showers kept off so an 84 year old and his 76 (this month) apprentice managed to get the large sheets of iron up on the roof where Doug fixed them down.  Just as the job was finished we had a heavy shower.  We had to be very careful with some strong gusts of wind.

There is still the flashing to go up and then new guttering but we are pleased with ourselves as I am quite sure that a lot of younger people would have had difficulty doing the job.  We were very lucky with the weather as further down the Island winds were 100 kmh and I have just had an email to say that the weather was so bad at the north of the South Island that the courier was unable to pick up parcels.

  1. You two are a great team. Working at roof height would not be a job I could do. Wind gusts strong enough to stop the parcel pick ups must be very fierce.

    1. Yes, of course it is perfect today. Don't know what it was like in Blenheim yesterday but it was Collingwood that emailed to say Couriers could not pick up parcels because of flooding.

  4. Great that you got that iron on. Here in Hamilton we had strong wind all morning with the odd super-strong gust, and then heavy rain for a couple of hours early afternoon. There would have been no roofing going on around here!

    1. It was definitely borderline here - suppose we should have waited till today but at least it is now up.

  5. He's done well. We were due to get a good storm but all that came through was about 5 minutes of rain.
